Wishing Everyone A Safe And Merry Christmas Even If Things Get Chaotic

A couple of days before Thanksgiving, I posted a blog about why it's so hard for addicts, alcoholics even if they are in recovery this time of the year.

It's a few days before Christmas, and I think it can be said again. This time of the year can send people into the deep end. There's a lot of family stuff that gets brought up and happens because this time of the year has a focus on family.

And if the family system is a struggle, and there is a lot of fighting and chaos, hurt and anger from the past can continue to drive families to crazy town. Whether you are the addict/alcoholic or not.

This is not a valid excuse for poor choices, that's not what I am saying. But if you find yourself with complicated family dynamics, hurt, anger, pain that seems to continue to resurface every year around this time, maybe it's time to change that.

And change can be challenging, and can't be done by ourselves. If you are angry, and you are tired of being angry, even if it is justified anger, maybe it's time to figure out how to let that anger go. You can always reach out to me, and I can help, but if not me, then who?

Making that choice is tough, it's scary, but it's worth it.
